“As we join the world in celebrating the ‘International Translation Day’ on September 30, we at the Supreme Legislation Committee in the Emirate of Dubai (“SLC”) recognise the important role of translation in the convergence of different cultures, in strengthening ties amongst various nations, and in transferring and disseminating knowledge. Throughout history, translation has played a vital role in supporting human knowledge by facilitating communication between communities, collaboration between individuals, as well as resolution of international conflicts. With over 200 nationalities living on its land, the UAE has always cemented a distinguished approach to coexistence, placing great emphasis on translation and translators, and establishing a legislative framework to regulate their profession. On this occasion, the SLC expresses its appreciation of the role of translators, especially those supporting the legislative sector, and its support for national talents and cadres specialised in the field of translation. Additionally, the SLC reiterates its commitment to translate the legislation in force in the emirate of Dubai, as per the directives of our wise leadership, to ensure that non-Arabic speaking community members understand and adhere to this legislation. We at the SLC focus on promoting legislative culture and knowledge amongst community members in Dubai and in the UAE, with a view to ensuring that those governed by this legislation are aware of, and in compliance with, its provisions”
