Statement of Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar Al Muhairi, SLC Secretary General On Emirati Children’s Day 2022
15 Mar 2022

“This Emirati Children’s Day, the Supreme Legislation Committee in the Emirate of Dubai (“SLC”) wishes to acknowledge the UAE’s commitment to ensure the protection and welfare of our children; to create an environment that allows children to thrive in their family, in the educational system, and in society; and to raise awareness of the children’s rights and the means of preserving these rights.

The Emirati Children’s Day is celebrated as a national event on March 15th every year, at the behest of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme for Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation. This reflects the vision of our wise leadership aiming at providing a safe and supportive environment for children, one that facilitates the development of their abilities and skills, and prepares them to fulfill their role as a driving force in the advancement of our nation.

The United Arab Emirates has transformed into a global model when it comes to ensuring the protection of children and young adults. The country strives to guarantee their rights and provide them with all the necessary means of ensuring their safety, education, and well-being. This has been made possible under the care and support of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces; and members of the Federal Supreme Council, Rulers of the emirates.

Empowering our children is a matter of great significance at this point in our history, when our nation is on the cusp of rapid advancements. We wish to establish the UAE as one of the best, most advanced, and innovation-oriented countries in the world. This goal will only be possible if we continue to implement ambitious development-oriented strategies that empower young talent and skill.

The SLC would like to take this occasion to re-affirm its commitment to develop a more flexible and efficient legislative system that ensures the protection of our children. We will continue to enable a robust legal infrastructure that promotes the empowerment of different segments of society, especially our children, who are the future of our nation.”
