H.E. Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar Al Muhairi, SLC Secretary General on Emirati Children’s Day
15/03/2020

"We are honoured to join the whole nation as it celebrates the ‘Emirati Children’s Day,’ an occasion that reaffirms our deep-seated belief in a new generation of leaders. Today’s celebrations, which are held upon the kind initiative of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU); President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood; Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF); and ‘Mother of the UAE’, reflect the tremendous interest that the UAE has in empowering children and preparing them to be future builders. We proudly regard our children as the nation's inexhaustible human capital that drive its growth, progress, and development march. Our country is moving forward on the path of excellence, supported by legislation enacted to serve the interests of children and to ensure their protection, in line with the enlightened guidance of our wise leadership on creating a safe and supportive healthy environment for children.

The launch of the ‘National Strategy for Motherhood and Childhood 2017-2021’ represents an important step towards ensuring the effective participation of children and youth in all fields, enhancing childcare programmes, and supporting the children's future and the constant development of their skills. We, at the Supreme Legislation Committee in the Emirate of Dubai (SLC), are keen to launch initiatives that are in line with our mission and strategic plans to support children and youth and prepare them to be future legislators. Examples of these are the ‘Young Legislator’ initiative launched by the SLC, as well as the move to develop a legislative and legal system that ensures the maximum protection of children. We focus on supporting the UAE pioneering efforts aimed at enhancing the potential of the new generation to be creative, innovative, distinguished, and pioneering; protecting them from risks; and providing them with quality healthcare and educational services in order to prepare them to participate in making and anticipating a future that we will all be proud of."
