04/07/2019

The Supreme Legislation Committee (SLC) in Dubai is preparing to host the Annual Legislative Needs Forum 2020, which will discuss the Legislative Plan 2020 and its progress between 2017 and 2019.  The Annual Legislative Needs Forum 2020 is in line with Dubai’s efforts to build a solid and modern legislative system according to its ambitious development process.

A total of 39 local government entities will attend the forum, which will be held on July 7, 2019, to examine their legislative needs, find effective and practical solutions to challenges, and identify the best ways to improve the legislative structure to build a happy and prosperous emirate according to Dubai Plan 2021.

H.E. Ahmad bin Meshar Al Muhairi, SLC Secretary General, said that the Annual Legislative Needs Forum 2020 will serve as an interactive platform for the preparation of the legislative plan, which focuses on a comprehensive and unified legislative framework designed to create a pioneering and modern legislative system. The forum is aligned with the ongoing initiative to build a leading, competent, and distinguished government that ensures fair and reliable implementation of all legislations. He also pointed out that the event forms part of the General Secretariat’s commitment to accelerate, develop, and continuously update the legislative plan. This commitment is aligned with the efforts to create a future government that drives inclusive socio-economic development and improves the happiness and well-being of the people.

Dr. Mansour Abdul Rahman Al Osaimi, Director of the SLC’s Legislation Directorate, pointed out that the upcoming forum reflects the General Secretariat’s commitment to raise legislative awareness, define legislative measures, and enhance fruitful cooperation with government entities. SLC’s collaboration with other government bodies will allow them to participate in developing clear legislative mechanisms and implementation in accordance with the best global practices and existing federal and local laws.

It also aims to establish a legislative framework that is supportive of Dubai’s comprehensive and sustainable development. SLC said it is pleased with the government’s trust and its active participation in its initiatives. Dr. Al Osaimi said SLC will continue to enhance Dubai’s legislative system as it keeps abreast of the rapid local, regional, and global developments  in line with the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler Dubai, and H.H. Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the SLC.
